On January 27, 2010 during the State of the Union, President Obama made it clear that he will not back away from his commitment to enacting health insurance reform: “By the time I’m finished speaking tonight, more Americans will have lost their health insurance. Millions will lose it this year. Our deficit will grow. Premiums will go up. Co-pays will go up. Patients will be denied the care they need. Small business owners will continue to drop coverage altogether. I will not walk away from these Americans.”
On Friday, January 22, 2010, President Obama discussed health insurance reform at a town hall meeting in Elyria, Ohio, and said “I am not going to walk away just because it's hard…I'm not going to watch more people get crushed by costs or denied care they need by insurance-company bureaucrats.”
