On Thursday, December 24, 2009, President Obama praised the Senate for passing health insurance reform, another major step towards his historic goal.
On Saturday, December 19, 2009, in his weekly address, President Obama praised the strong patient protections in the health insurance reform bills in Congress. The legislation contains many of the protections originally proposed in the bipartisan Patient’s Bill of Rights a decade ago.
On Friday, December 18, 2009, Secretary Sebelius released a new report about how health insurance reform will protect families and lower costs.
On Monday, December 14, 2009, the Council of Economic Advisers released a new report on the impact of health insurance reform on American families and our nation’s economy. The report found that reform will reduce premiums, lower public and private health care spending, and increase workers’ wages.
On December 9, 2009, President Obama announced the release of nearly $600 million to strengthen community health centers. The new funding will help health centers serve 500,000 additional patients and use health information technology. |
